Belated greetings to all our Members and Supporters. Apologize for the late report but things have cookin’ in the Halifax kitchen while I was away from you. The final ”Halifax Event” at our headquarters at BCMC on Sept. 13 was a success with over 150 people attending my Powerpoint on all the progress on our Halifax restoration project. Between my prep to get ready for this Halifax event and my new responsibilities to head up the Museum Expansion project, I was spread very thin! Remember, the Expansion project – a 25,000 SQ. FT. hangar –  is a top priority for BCMC and us, ’cause if we do NOT have a new hangar for the Halifax and Lanc –  we cannot display the 2 bombers together NOR will we be able to assemble the rebuilt sections of Halifax when they get shipped out from the REBUILDSHOP in Arnprior, Ontario to Nanton.  The Expansion Project is called ”HOME for the HEAVIES” and you can see it a YOUTUBE video of our great concept and master plan for the future, click below – our own Jim Blondeau of H57RC wrote and sang the theme song;

Bomber Command Museum HOME for the Heavies

You can also get an idea of the concept by clicking on this live link below to our BCMC HQ website:

So you think this above is wishfull thinking?! Welllll, after my expansion team did some careful negotiations and planning –  first week in Oct. – we raised 1 MILLION dollars and we are now at over 1.5 Million in the bank for the Expansion hangar. Also, we have 2 other sources of grants we are dealing with right now, so hang  on to your hats. More announcements will be forthcoming as we pursue our Expansion hangar funding goal of 7.5 million. So while all this Halifax HOME – work is going on, KNOX TECH back at the ranch, has been building up our wing and flaps plus sorting through our 7 tons of Halifax spare parts we brought in from Europe this summer in our shipping container. Flaps, props, brakes, gas tanks, rudders, tail sections and cowlings for our Hercules Halifax engines. Canadian Tire and Tescos aint got nothin’ on us!

A special shout out and thanks to Ian Hinks, former BBMF engineer in Chesterfield UK, who donated $5,000 to our H57RC rebuild and yes Ian, we will be able to install a plaque inside the Halifax gear wells dedicated to your mother and father. Thanks ever so much for this great family donation to keep us going.  Now me hearties, I am in Arnprior right now as I write this Update and we have just launched Hercules No. 4 engine for our Halifax to Alberta, Thanks to Dr. Harry Raffal and his RAF Museum Team. a new complete – firewall forward engine with all accessories – via truck – ”Lorry”  so Ian Hinks will know what this colonial is talking about. See our No. 4 engine below, all wrapped up for protection and loaded, to travel 2,000 miles to BCMC in Alberta. Thanks to ”East-West Transport” our corporate sponsors in Calgary, 1,800 miles of this transport is free (BUT the first 200 miles by regional lorry cost us $1,000 just to get it to East-West’s main terminal in Toronto) — would any of you stalwarts be willing to help out paying for the first 200 miles ??

So see No.4 engine ready this morning – below-  and launched today, to our Hercules team at BCMC ready to swarm over her and get her ready to run this winter for next summer events engines runs.

Are you keeping track of how many Herc engines we have running now? THREEEE – get it? So what does this No.4 engine mean when she lights up this coming spring – we have got enough to decorate a Halifax! OH YEAH, I guess that means that BCMC and H57RC are the world’s largest operator of running Bristol Hercules engines on the face of planet Earth. IAN – Who would have thunk that a bunch of “farmers and lumberjacks” on the bald colonial prairies would have “lucked in” with such hardware adorning their homestead? Well I never! Dont forget we have NEW video programs on the Halifax restoration, and our world-wide adventures, called the “HALIFAX 57 RESCUE SHOW” on Youtube, All you have to do is put in this search on Youtube – we are up to SHOW 30 with 31 out later this week — so have a look at all our shows:
