Think of a critical football game where one team is waiting, after 4 years, to annihilate another team, and the waiting team who is following the rules realizes the only thing they can do is an all out war to block, knockdown, and physically destroy that opposition which has all things going for it and thinks they will win.

Except for cunning and surprise and brute force of patriots who are willing to win – or die trying.

Think of our running back, an ARMY MAN, carrying the ball who must overcome all odds to win this critical game.  He score the winning points — and all is saved!!

Then think again.

Look at the replay of this monumental game. See the destructive blocking, devastating knock downs, trickery and fake outs. See the enemy team laying all over the field, knocked woozy and bewildered by our team but it was NOT the ball carrier who did all this and opened up the field for the score as he made his way thru that the field, with all defenses struck down, that allowed him alone to score the precious victory.

Then have all your “sport writers” tell to all our people in our lands of our great Army runner and ignore those AIR FORCE blockers, fake out artists, and players on our team who opened up those gigantic holes in a seemingly invincible defense and allowed our Army running back to score the ultimate score.

Do NOT show the railways and bridges being chewed up by bombs from bombers, do not show bridges blown and warehouses full of munitions of the opposition being wiped out by bombers, do not show tank bases being ripped up by bombs before they can get to “the game” on the Normandy beaches.

Speak only of the talents of the Army runner who has scored, while leaving out critical actions of those who, for that Army runner, blocked and knocked down every challenge, for a full-continous 60 days, before the Army runner scored on June 6, 1944.

Then after he scored, these same players who gave the Army runner the wide open field and a chance to score, had to then protect our team’s lead for another 70 days until a full victory was guaranteed and victory was inevitable.

The media does not see it nor do they understand about our Bomber Boys and their monumental contribution to D-Day.

So I will state it here even though, for you guys, this is like preaching to the choir or “taking coal to Newcastle “, BUT I must do it because that little voice inside me is saying “DO IT, dont allow media bullshit to hide our the real story of our BOMBER BOYS, our heroes.” TRUTH in important in history.

King, Queen, and Princess Elizabeth decorate RCAF airmen in Yorkshire, AUG. 1944, after D-Day.

So here it is:

D-DAY and BOMBER COMMAND
There will be many reports on the 80th Anniversary of D-DAY about the successful invasion of our soldiers – rightly so – to capture the Normandy beaches and move forward to Allied Victory in WW2.
BUT many will brush off and not point out a MAJOR factor in the D-DAY invasion success – BOMBER COMMAND !
For 60 days, CONTINUOUS BEFORE D-DAY – March 31 to June 5, 1944 — Bomber Command sent out 24,000 bombers – about 400 bomber per night – to hammer the French roads, railroads, supply lines, and armament depots of the Nazi war machine in France – that could re-supply the French beaches and fortifications.
Bomber Command lost 525 bombers in these 60 days – 3,500 plus aircrew!
Not only this, but Bomber Command laid thousands of sea mines and bombed the combat seaports on the French coastline so that the German Navy could not respond in strength to attack the Invasion force.
Also, ”Operation Taxable”, where bombers of 617 Squadron and others, using special radar deception tactics to fake out the German radar units, succeeded in making the Nazis think the Allied fleet were going to the Pas de Calais, this greatly helped make D-DAY at Normandy be a successful invasion.
BTW, AFTER D-DAY, when our soldiers and armies advances were very difficult, Bomber Command also launched from June 6 to August 16th – 46,000 plus bombers from June 6 TO Aug. 16 – in 70 days = over 600 bombers per night – mainly in support of the Allied advance and to destroying the Nazi arsenal in France like the V1 threats.
Bomber Command lost 727 bombers during these 70 days = 5,000 plus aircrew !!
The master plan of D-DAY was built upon the actions of Bomber Command to hammer the Nazis during these vital 100 plus days in 1944.
D-DAY might NOT have been a success – –  except for BOMBER COMMAND – this force was critical to that success of June 6th, 1944 !
SEE ”Bomber Command War Diaries” by Middlebrook, Chapters 18 and 19, pages 489-564  – to corroborate the above.
